Manually emailed PDF instructions to knit a plain and simple, good old fashioned classic raglan sleeve, round neck or v-neck baby cardigan, suitable for either a reborn doll or infant baby.

The pattern is suitable for a beginner as the pattern is written on a row-by-row basis and the buttonholes are placed for you, so you don’t have to work anything out.

It is available in 9 sizes and is worked in either 4ply or DK yarn depending on which size you wish you knit. It is completely unisex and can be knitted for either a boy or a girl.

When knitted, it will fit sizes starting from 10 through to 22 inches (25cm-55cm) in height for a reborn doll, or a 1lb micro premature baby through to a 3-month baby.

Materials needed to make this cardigan:

10 inch or 25cm Height (Approx 1lb Prem) Size

50g 4ply yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

11 inch or 27.5cm Height (Approx 1-1.5lb Prem) Size

50g 4ply yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 3.75mm needles or DK yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

12 inch or 30cm Height (Approx 1.5lb Prem) Size

100g DK yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

14 inch or 35cm Height (Approx 2.5lb Prem) Size

100g DK yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 4.5mm needles making a tension of 20sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

15-16 inch or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 2.5-4lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

16-17 inch or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 3-5lb Prem) Size

18-19 inch pr 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size

20-21 inch or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

100g DK yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 32 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22 inch or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size

100g DK yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan, or 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

This pattern has been designed by myself in UK terminology. It does not follow the usual ‘shop bought’ format. There are 6 printed pages with clear and easy-to-follow instructions. Independent knitters test all my patterns before release, to ensure every effort is made to keep them error-free.
