Knitting Pattern 065 – Girls Side Buttoning Vest

Manually emailed PDF instructions to knit a girl’s side buttoning bodysuit with matching bonnet and shoes. It has been designed with a lace pattern and plain stocking stitch, so you can adjust the shoes so you can either have one shoe plain, one shoe patterned, both shoes patterned, or both shoes plain. You can also adjust the sleeves to have both plain, both patterned or one of each as shown in the photo.

You will need:

15-16” or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 2.5-4lb Prem) Size

50g 4ply yarn in colour A, 50g in colour B, 9 buttons, 1m ribbon for the bonnet, 4 stitch holders, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

16-17” or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 3-5lb Prem) Size

50g 4ply yarn in colour A, 50g in colour B, 9 buttons, 1m ribbon for the bonnet, 4 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

18-19” or 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size

50g each of colour A & B 4ply yarn, 9 buttons, 1m ribbon for the bonnet, 4 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles or dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

20-21” or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

100g dk yarn in colour A, 50g in colour B, 9 buttons, 1m ribbon for the bonnet, 4 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 32 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22” or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size

100g dk yarn in colour A, 50g in colour B, 9 buttons, 1m ribbon for the bonnet, 4 stitch holders, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

This pattern has been designed by myself so it is in UK terminology. It does not follow the usual ‘shop bought’ format. There are 10 printed pages with clear and easy to follow row by row-by-row instructions. All my patterns are tested by independent knitters before they are released, so every effort is made so that they come to you error-free.
