This plain baby cardigan knitting pattern has a choice of a round neck or v-neck. It is suitable for either a reborn doll or an infant baby.
This basic cardigan knitting pattern is ideal for a beginner knitter as it has been written on a row-by-row basis. As a result, the buttonholes have been placed for you. In addition, the shaping instructions have also been provided so you don’t have to work it out yourself.
You can also knit this cardigan before you know the gender of the expected arrival. To do this, knit the cardigan as instructed. Sew up all but the button/buttonhole band. Once you know the gender, sew the button/buttonhole band and buttons onto the designated sides. Full instructions are in the pattern.
This plain baby cardigan knitting pattern comes in 9 sizes. It can be knitted in 4ply or DK yarn depending on the size you wish you knit. As this pattern is completely unisex it can be knitted for either a boy or a girl.
Once knitted, this classic baby cardigan will fit sizes starting from 10 through to 22 inches (25cm-55cm) in height for a reborn doll, or a 1lb micro premature baby through to a 3-month baby.

50g 4ply yarn, 3 buttons for the v-neck cardigan and 5 buttons for the round neck cardigan. You will also need 1 x pr 3.25mm needles to make a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
