This is a lovely, simple little knitting pattern for making 5-inch bonding squares for your local special baby care unit. These are great if you enjoy hospital knitting. They are quick and easy. They are also a great way of using up those oddments of yarn lying around too. You don’t even have to make them both the same colour. Make two, one for the parent and one for the baby. Knitted in an easy, textured slip-stitch pattern each one will easily trap their corresponding scent when with the parent and child. After a while, each bonding square will get swapped over so that parent and baby recognise each other’s smell. This will help the baby recognise the parent’s smell and bond with them.
You will need 30g of DK yarn for a pair of squares and 1 x pair of 4mm needles.

This is a free knitting pattern using DK yarn. The finished item measures 12″ x 12″ (30 x 30cm).
To make this memorial blanket angel wrap, you will need 100g dk yarn. You will also need 1 x pair of 4mm needles. Make a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch. I have also used cuts of 6mm ribbon which I have threaded through the border. I then tied them in a bow at each corner.
These are very popular for hospital knitting and they are greatly appreciated when they are received.

The headband is fully adjustable, with large buttons for a care worker to attach the straps of their mask over the buttons instead of their ears to make them more comfortable. The large buttons are a tight fit through the buttonholes so that once the headband has been washed and worn a few times, the buttons aren’t going to pop out easily. It is knitted in two pieces, so that the second button can be moved into the correct place so it is level with the other ear so that the mask is kept straight. Its not the prettiest headband in the world, but hopefully it will be comfortable and very practical at the same time, so it saves our very dedicated care workers ears from getting sore.
You will need:
20g dk yarn with a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch, 2 large buttons, 1 x pr 4mm needles. One size fits all.

Although this baby burial gown knitting pattern isn’t a particularly quick knit, it does have its advantages. It has a thicker skirt area as it is worked in a cable pattern. This in turn provides privacy for the babies, yet still makes for a pretty and practical outfit. The gown fully opens out, so that the baby is easy to dress.
