DollieBabies Patterns Explained

DollieBabies Patterns Explained — Baby, Premature & Reborn Doll Knitting Patterns

Welcome — I’m Lynne, the designer behind DollieBabies.

I create original knitting patterns for babies, premature babies and reborn dolls, written clearly so real knitters can enjoy making them.

DollieBabies knitting patterns are traditional, practical and easy to follow — designed and written by hand, not AI.

This page explains exactly what my patterns are, what you receive, and how they work.

What are DollieBabies knitting patterns?

DollieBabies patterns are original PDF knitting patterns created and written by me.

  • handmade designs (not AI generated)
  • checked and updated over time
  • suitable for babies, preemies and reborn dolls
  • written in clear, friendly language

My aim is simple: pretty, wearable knits that still feel like “proper hand knitting”.

Are your knitting patterns PDF or printed?

All DollieBabies patterns are available as PDF digital knitting patterns, and many designs are also available as printed copies.

  • PDF patterns are clearly marked as digital patterns
  • they are manually emailed by me
  • you can download and print them at home

Printed patterns will always be clearly labelled in the printed knitting pattern collection.

PDF knitting patterns are instructions, not finished knitted items.

What sizes do your baby and reborn doll knitting patterns come in?

Depending on the design, patterns may include:

  • micro and tiny premature sizes
  • premature baby sizes
  • newborn
  • 0–3 months
  • 3-6 months
  • 6-9 months
  • 1-7 year olds
  • reborn doll sizes

Each listing explains exactly which sizes are included, so you can choose confidently. Height sizes refer to the height of a reborn doll, whilst weight sizes refer to real babies.

What yarn do DollieBabies patterns use?

Most DollieBabies knitting patterns use Double Knitting (DK) yarn.

Some of the very tiny premature sizes in certain designs may use 4-ply yarn, where a lighter fabric is needed — but this is mainly for the smallest sizes only.

Inside every pattern you’ll find:

  • yarn weight used for each size
  • approximate quantities
  • needle sizes
  • tension (gauge) information
  • notes where alternatives may work

Are DollieBabies knitting patterns suitable for beginners?

Many designs are easy to intermediate knitting patterns.

  • clear instructions
  • minimal jargon
  • extra notes where needed

If you’re unsure whether a pattern suits your skill level, just ask — I’m always happy to help.

What do I receive when I buy a DollieBabies pattern?

You receive a clearly written PDF knitting pattern that includes:

  • step-by-step instructions
  • sizes included
  • yarn and needle details
  • tension information
  • safety notes where relevant

Patterns are written in UK terms unless otherwise stated.

Because PDFs are manually emailed, please allow a short time — I always send them as quickly as possible.

Safety information (especially for baby knits)

Many newer DollieBabies knitting patterns include GPSR safety guidance, covering:

  • safe button placement
  • ribbon safety
  • suitable yarn suggestions
  • comfort considerations for tiny babies
