Knitting Pattern 30 - Frilly Sleeve Baby Cardigan

Instructions to knit a reborn or baby girl’s frilly cardigan. The pattern is available in 9 sizes for either 4ply or DK yarn depending on which size you wish you knit. The cardigan is a round neck, raglan sleeve design with layers of frills within the raglan shaping of the sleeves. The cuffs and welts are made up of a single frill. When knitted, it will fit a 10″-22″ (25cm-55cm) height reborn doll or approx 1lb-0/3 month baby.

A larger size of this cardigan is available for 1-7 year olds

Child Size Frilly Sleeve Cardigan

To knit this frilly sleeve cardigan you need to be able to knit, purl, knit 3 stitches together, yarn forward, knit 2 stitches together, join 2 pieces of separate knitting together with a 3rd needle and pick up stitches.

The materials needed for this girl’s frilly cardigan knitting pattern are as follows:-

10” or 25cm Height (Approx 1lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply, 4 buttons and 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

11” or 27.5cm Height (Approx 1-1.5lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply, 4 buttons and1 x pr 3.75mm needles or dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

12” or 30cm Height (Approx 1.5lb Prem) Size

100g DK, 4 buttons and 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

14” or 30cm Height (Approx 2.5lb Prem) Size

100g DK, 4 buttons and 1 x pr 4.5mm needles making a tension of 20sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

15-16” or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 3-4lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply, 9 buttons and 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

16-17” or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 4-5lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply, 9 buttons and 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

18-19” or 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 6-7lb Newborn) Size 

100g 4ply, 9 buttons and 1 x pr 3.75mm needles or dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

20-21” or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

100g dk, 9 buttons and 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 32 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.

22” or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size

100g dk, 9 buttons and 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.  You will also need spare needles to hold frills.
