Manually emailed instructions to knit a 16″ reborn doll matinee set using DK yarn and featuring knitting in lace. This set also sports a row of lacy diamonds. We have embellished each diamond with a single ribbon rose. The set comprises a matinee jacket, trousers, bonnet and shoes. This is a single-sized pattern.
This pattern can be knitted with or without knitting in lace. If you don’t want to use the lace, then you can just simply purl the row instead.
To make this outfit, you will need to be able to knit, purl, yarn forward, slip stitches, pass slipped stitches over, knit two stitches together, increase and pick up stitches.
If you have never used knitting in lace before but want to give it a try, follow this link which explains what knitting in lace is. It also has a written tutorial and a video tutorial on how to use it with your knitting. It is a lot easier than you may think.
Materials needed to make this set:
You will need 200g double knitting yarn, 3.25mm needles as well as 4mm needles and stitch holders. Additionally, you will also need 2 small buttons for the shoes and 4 larger buttons for the jacket. If you are using knitting in lace, then you will need 5 metres. You will also need 2 metres of narrow 6mm ribbon, 37 ribbon roses or embellishments of your choice, 1 triple ribbon rose or a larger embellishment of your choice.
We hope you enjoy our reborn doll matinee set knitting pattern.
