Knitting Pattern 88 – Gathered Yoke Bodysuit

Instructions to knit a reborn or baby vest set with lots of knitting in lace. This pattern is a customer request, based on pattern number 24.  The set comprises a vest/bodysuit/romper with a gathered yoke, so it can be worn with the buttons at the back or the front.  There is a matching bonnet, beanie hat, bootees and shoes.  It is a multi-sized pattern from premature to 6 months of age.

To knit this baby bodysuit you will need to be able to knit, purl, knit 2 stitches together, yarn forward, slip stitches, pass slipped stitches over, increase and knit through back of loop, use knitting in lace and pick up stitches.

You will need:

17-18” or 42.5-45cm Height (Approx 4-5lb Prem) Size

150g 4ply yarn, 8 buttons for the vest, 2 smaller buttons for shoes, 3 metres of ribbon for the bootees and bonnet, 13 metres of knitting in lace (931 holes), embellishments of your choice, 5 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

18-19” or 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size

200g 4ply yarn, 8 buttons for the vest, 2 smaller buttons for shoes, 3 metres of ribbon for the bootees and bonnet, 13 metres of knitting in lace (931 holes), embellishments of your choice, 5 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

20-21” or 51-53.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

200g 4ply yarn, 8 buttons for the vest, 2 smaller buttons for shoes, 3 metres of ribbon for the bootees and bonnet, 13 metres of knitting in lace (931 holes), embellishments of your choice, 5 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles.  OR use dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22” or 55cm Height (Approx 0-3 Months) Size

250g dk yarn, 8 buttons for the vest, 2 smaller buttons for shoes, 3 metres of ribbon for the bootees and bonnet, 13 metres of knitting in lace (931 holes), embellishments of your choice, 5 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

3-6 Month Size

250g dk yarn, 8 buttons for the vest, 2 smaller buttons for shoes, 3 metres of ribbon for the bootees and bonnet, 13 metres of knitting in lace (931 holes), embellishments of your choice, 5 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
