Knitting Pattern 103 – Strappy Bodysuit Set

Instructions for a girl’s super cute but simple strappy vest set.  The set comprises a vest with thin straps on the shoulders, but which fastens at the crotch with 3 buttons.  There is a matching pair of turban-style sandals, as well as a headband, and is ideal for the warmer weather.  You can make it in a range of sizes starting from newborn through to 6-9 months. This pattern is so versatile.  It can be knitted in plain yarn or any variation of variegated self-patterning yarn.  you could even add a lace or material skirt to it.

To knit this baby bodysuit you need to be able to knit, purl, increase, knit 2 stitches together, yarn forward, pick up stitches and cast on using the 2 needle method.

You will need:

19” or 50cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size

50g 4ply yarn in main colour, 50g in contrast colour, 3 buttons, embellishments, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22” or 56cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

50g 4ply yarn in main colour, 50g in contrast colour, 3 buttons, embellishments, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

24” or 62cm Height (Approx 0-3) Size

50g 4ply yarn in main colour, 50g in contrast colour, 3 buttons, embellishments, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles.  OR use dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

27” or 68cm Height (Approx 3-6 Months) Size

100g dk yarn in main colour, 50g in contrast colour, 3 buttons, embellishments, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

29” or 74cm Height (Approx 6-9 Months) Size

150g dk yarn in main colour, 50g in contrast colour, 3 buttons, embellishments, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
