Knitting Pattern 67 – Dungaree Dress Set

Instructions for a reborn or baby girl’s dungaree dress set in either 4ply or DK yarn, depending on which size you want to make.  The set comprises a crew neck sweater that fastens at the back.  The sleeves feature a lace pattern on the long sleeves and the top part of the sleeve is plain and is made as a double thickness.  The dungaree dress fastens at the top and also at the sides.  The dungaree dress features a lace pattern running above the hemline and it also has a large pocket at the front.  There is also a lace-patterned bonnet and matching shoes.

To knit this dungaree set you need to be able to knit, purl, yarn forward, knit 2 stitches together, increase, work through the back of loops, join 2 separate pieces of knitting together with a 3rd needle and pick up stitches. 

You will need:

15-16” or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 2.5-4lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply yarn in main colour A, 50g contrast colour B, 12 buttons,  3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

16-17” or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 3-5lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply yarn in main colour A, 50g contrast colour B, 12 buttons, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

18-19” or 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size

150g 4ply yarn in main colour A, 100g contrast colour B, 12 buttons, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles.  OR use dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

20-21” or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

150g dk yarn in main colour A, 100g contrast colour B, 12 buttons, 3 stitch holders,  1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22” or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size

200g dk yarn in main colour A, 100g contrast colour B,  12 buttons, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
