This child-size bolero can be knitted in 4 sizes from 1 year to 7 years, and all sizes are knitted in DK yarn. There are instructions for both long-sleeve and short-sleeve versions.

Each size has individual instructions and is all knitted from the top down.  As a result, there is minimal sewing needed afterwards.  There is also a choice of long or short sleeves as well as instructions for using contrasting colours.

This top-down child bolero knitting pattern has been designed by ourselves in English and UK terminology.  Our patterns do not follow the usual ‘shop bought’ format as they are written on a row-by-row basis. There are 8 pages with clear and easy-to-follow instructions.

See below for the sizes and materials needed to make this child bolero.

• 1-2 Year Size – 50g dk yarn in colour A and 50g dk yarn in colour B. You will also need 1 button, 1 x stitch holder and 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
• 2-3 Year Size – 100g dk yarn in colour A and 50g dk yarn in colour B. You will also need 1 button, 1 x stitch holder and 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
• 4-5 Year Size – 100g dk yarn in colour A and 50g dk yarn in colour B. You will also need 1 button, 1 x stitch holder and 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
• 6- 7 Year Size – 150g dk yarn in colour A and 50g dk yarn in colour B. You will also need 1 button, 1 x stitch holder and 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
