Knitting Pattern 74 – Bunny Dress Set

Instructions to knit a baby or reborn doll’s dress set with intarsia charts for flowers, a rabbit and a carrot.  There is a matching bonnet and Mary Jane-style shoes.  I have knitted the outfit shown in Sirdar Snuggly DK. When knitted this set will fit a 21-22 inch reborn, 19-20 inch reborn, 17-18 inch reborn or a 15-16″ reborn, or babies 3lb through to 3 months.  Alternatively, the dress set looks just as nice with the scalloped edging and row of flowers without the bunny motifs.  If you want to opt for the plainer version, just replace the motif rows with a single-colour stocking stitch.

To knit this adorable baby dress, you will need to be able to knit, purl, read a chart, knit 2 stitches together, yarn forward, purl 2 stitches together.  There are also some special abbreviations where the instructions are written out in full.

You will need:

15-16” or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 2.5lb -4lb Prem) Size

150g 4ply yarn in main colour (blue), 50g in contrast colour A (green), 50g in contrast colour B (pink), 50g in contrast colour C (yellow), 50g in contrast colour D (white) and an oddment of orange for carrot, 6 buttons, 3x stitch holders, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

16-17” or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 3-5lb Prem) Size

150g 4ply yarn in main colour (blue), 50g in contrast colour A (green), 50g in contrast colour B (pink), 50g in contrast colour C (yellow), 50g in contrast colour D (white) and an oddment of orange for carrot, 6 buttons, 3 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

18-19” pr 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) size

150g 4ply yarn in main colour (blue), 50g in contrast colour A (green), 50g in contrast colour B (pink), 50g in contrast colour C (yellow), 50g in contrast colour D (white) and an oddment of orange for carrot, 6 buttons, 3 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles or dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

20-21” or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

200g dk yarn in main colour (blue), 50g in contrast colour A (green), 50g in contrast colour B (pink), 50g in contrast colour C (yellow), 50g in contrast colour D (white) and an oddment of orange for carrot, 6 buttons, 3 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 32 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22” or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size

200g dk yarn in main colour (blue), 50g in contrast colour A (green), 50g in contrast colour B (pink), 50g in contrast colour C (yellow), 50g in contrast colour D (white) and an oddment of orange for carrot, 6 buttons, 3 x stitch holders, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
