Printed Knitting Pattern 92 – Autumn Leafy Lace Cardigans

Printed and posted instructions to knit this round and v-neck cardigan pattern in the same stitch pattern as pattern numbers 24 and 88, so either the bonnets, beanie hat, bootees or shoes will match with this pattern, or you could just have the cardigan on its own. This is a customer-requested pattern and starts from premature size up to 6 months.   The buttonholes are worked on both sides of the border, so the cardigan can be made up in advance of knowing the baby’s gender, then when you do know, just sew up the unwanted buttonholes, and sew the buttons on over the top.

To knit this leaf patterned baby cardigan you need to be able to knit, purl, yarn forward, slip stitches, pass slipped stitches over, knit 2 stitches together and pick up stitches.

You will need: 

15-16” or 37.5-40cm Height (Approx 2.5-4lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply yarn, 6 buttons for round neck version or 4 buttons for v neck version, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

16-17” or 40-42.5cm Height (Approx 3-5lb Prem) Size

100g 4ply yarn, 6 buttons for round neck version or 4 buttons for v neck version, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

18-19” or 45-47.5cm Height (Approx 5-7lb Newborn) Size

150g 4ply yarn 6 buttons for round neck version or 4 buttons for v neck version, 3 stitch holders, 1x pr 3.75mm needles.  OR use dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

20-21” or 50-52.5cm Height (Approx 8-10lb Newborn) Size

100g dk yarn, 6 buttons for round neck version or 4 buttons for v neck version, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.

22” or 55cm Height (0-3 Months) Size

24” + or 61cm Height (3-6 Months) Size

150g dk yarn, 6 buttons for round neck version or 4 buttons for v neck version, 3 stitch holders, 1 x pr 4.5mm needles making a tension of 20sts and 27 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
