Printed and posted instructions for you to knit this flared, scoop neck, button up pinafore dress with a matching frill neck, short sleeve sweater.
Our baby pinafore dress with frill neck sweater is also available in PDF format.
Sizing starts from newborn and goes up to 9 months of age.
It’s knitted in either 4ply or dk yarn depending on which size you wish to knit.
Both the hem of the pinafore dress and the sleeves of the sweater feature a bobble style edging which you knit first, then pick up the stitches for the main piece afterwards.
This way means that there is no stretching of the edging to make it fit and no sewing it on afterwards.
Although the skirt area of the dress is a big knit, it is also an easy knit and ideal to do when you are totally engrossed in your latest box set!
To knit this set you need to be able to knit, purl, slip stitches, pass slipped stitches over, yarn forward, increase stitches, make stitches, knit 2 stitches together, knit 4 stitches together and pick up stitches.
200g 4ply yarn in colour A, 100g in colour B and 8 buttons.
You will also need 3 x stitch holders and 1 x pr 2.5mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
200g 4ply yarn in colour A, 100g in colour B and 8 buttons.
You will also need 3 x stitch holders and 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
200g 4ply yarn in colour A, 100g in colour B and 8 buttons.
You will also need 3 x stitch holders and 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
250g 4ply yarn in colour A, 150g in colour B and 8 buttons.
You will also need 3 x stitch holders and 1 x pr 3.75mm needles.
OR use dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
300g dk yarn in colour A, 150g in colour B and 8 buttons.
You will also need 3 x stitch holders and 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 30 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
300g dk yarn in colour A, 150g in colour B and 8 buttons.
You will also need 3 x stitch holders and 1 x pr 4mm needles to make a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
