Manually emailed instructions to knit a smart, Sunday-looking cardigan which is knitted sideways. There is very little sewing up to do for this set which is always a bonus. It is just the sleeve seams on the cardigan, crown seam on the bonnet, and back and sole seams of the shoes that need sewing, and a few ends to darn in. It is knitted mostly in garter stitch and features a lacy collar, with matching bonnet and shoes.
To knit this baby cardigan. you will need to be able to knit, purl, work short rows, pick up stitches, yarn forward, knit 2 stitches together, purl 2 stitches together and work through the back of loops.
100g 4ply yarn in main colour, 50g 4ply in contrast colour, 5 buttons, 1 x pr 2.75mm needles making a tension of 30sts and 38 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
100g 4ply yarn in main colour, 50g 4ply yarn in contrast colour, 5 buttons, 1 x pr 3.25mm needles making a tension of 28sts and 36 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
150g 4ply yarn in main colour, 50g 4ply in contrast colour, 5 buttons, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles or dk yarn and 3.25mm needles making a tension of 26sts and 34 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
150g dk yarn in main colour, 50g dk yarn in contrast colour, 5 buttons, 1 x pr 3.75mm needles making a tension of 24sts and 32 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
150g dk yarn in main colour, 50g dk yarn in contrast colour, 5 buttons, 1 x pr 4mm needles making a tension of 22sts and 28 rows to 10cm square over stocking stitch.
